Downey’s Farm Market will be celebrating 15 years of direct farm marketing on Sunday, June 15.
Downey’s Farm in Caledon grows ‘fruit, fun and memories’. Owned and operated by the Downey family, Downey’s Farm Market will be celebrating 15 years of this agritourism. The farm is a popular entertainment centre for birthday parties, school tours and corporate events.
Downey’s Farm began with a simple roadside stand, operated by the five Downey children.
Then 15 years ago, the dairy barn was converted to a barn market to sell fresh Ontario produce, U-Pick strawberries and raspberries, baked breads and pies, gifts and crafts.
An entertainment centre was added with Ontario’s largest goat walk, farm animals, mini putt, tricycle track, a giant sandbox and a tire play area.
In 2002, Downey’s award-winning premier fruit winery was added. Downey’s Frambroise Wine was chosen Canada’s top fruit wine in 2003 and 2007.
To celebrate 15 years of business, specials include 15 per cent off plants, 15 doughnuts in a dozen, and 15 draws for prizes. The celebration starts at 2 p.m. with cake.
