Field Stone Fruit Wines, a Strathmore winery located east of Calgary that makes wines from its own crops of fruit and berries, recently won awards at two North American wine competitions.
Field Stone’s new Strawberry-Rhubarb Table Wine won the bronze medal in the Non Grape/Fruit Wine category at the North West Wine Summit 2008, which had entries from 353 wineries from five states and two provinces (Alberta and British Columbia).
Its Bumbleberry Fruit Wine also earned a gold medal as the best overall example of style and type.
And at the All Canadian Wine Competition 2008, a competition that had 1,045 wines submitted from across Canada, Field Stone’s Raspberry Dessert Wine won a silver medal in the Fortified Fruit Wine category, while the Raspberry Fruit Wine won a bronze medal in the Soft Fruit Wine Off-Dry category.
“We are thrilled to be winners among such esteemed company,” said Marvin Gill, partner at Field Stone Fruit Wines, in a press release.
