I was recently in Northern Spain and one thing I learned is that the Spanish not only make and drink a fair amount of excellent wine but that apple cider is also a very popular drink and does have a long history, especially in the northern part of the country. I found interesting the way it is served too. Because the wine is lightly carbonated in the bottle, there is a sediment present and this little contraption is used to pour the cider into a glass and also helps keep the CO2 in the drink longer. The cider itself is excellent and reminded me of “scrumpy” that can be found in Sommerset, UK. Click on this link to see how popular Spanish “sidra” is served in the bars of Spain: Spanish Sidra
I have yet to witness this live but I love the tradition and flair
